Games Convention Online goes trade-only
Leipziger Messe has announced that Games Convention Online will now be a trade-only event, with no public allowed at it.
The reason for the switch was down to not having enough "registered exhibitors" and "planned presentations".
"This is a regrettable, but necessary decision," strategy director, Silvana Kuerschner, said in a press release, adding: "That would neither guarantee the business success of the trade show, nor satisfy the interest of visitors whose past experiences bring them with high expectations to Leipzig."
Just to refresh your memory, Games Convention Online was once known as just Games Convention, and was at one time our big trade event in Europe. That was until everyone migrated to Cologne for gamescom.
The last time it was done in its old format was in 2008, with the online and mobile-only aspect of it debuting last year.
GCO takes place between July 8-10 in Leipzig.
