GAME Oxford Street faces closure following court order win for landlord

GAME's flagship store on Oxford Street in London could be facing closure after the landlord of the premises won a court order last Friday that could see it evict the retailer and drill the locks unless a £100,000 debt is paid, according to The Telegraph.

The move stems from an unpaid £100,000 rent bill for Lazari GP the day before GAME entered administration. The order means Lazari can send bailiffs around and drill the locks on the store.

The retailer's administrator PWC has refused to take responsibility for it, saying it took over the day after the rent had been due.

OpCapita, the new owner of GAME under the name of Game Retail/Baker Acquisitions, is continuing to battle Lazari over the debt, but the latter is now able to evict GAME from Oxford Street at any time whilst the matter is being disputed.
