Gambitious: Kickstarter-style crowd-funding service opens for business
Gambitious takes a leaf out of Kickstarter's playbook and gives game developers an exclusive platform on which to crowd source their projects. It's purely dedicated to gaming projects and it's gone live today.
Speaking with GI.biz, Gambitious CEO Paul Hanraets said, "Crowdfunding is causing a great seismic shift in how projects get funded, however, there are risks of crash-and-burn due to unfulfilled projects and unfinished games."
Hanraets added, "Unlike other crowdfunding platforms, Gambitious is designed specifically for the video game industry and ups the ante of developer credibility, investor engagement and development cycle understanding."
Like Kickstarter, owners of all successful projects will get to retain their IP in full and must submit business plans when registering a game or idea.
You can check out the official Gambitious site here. It will be interesting to see if the platform attracts any big names similar to Kickstarter.
What do you think? Could Gambitious take off, or is crowd-funding already too dominated by Kickstarter?
