Future of Pac-Man to be revealed at E3

In a press email received by Joystiq, Namco Bandai announced that Pac-Man's "next evolution" will be shown off at E3.

Apparently, this won't be any mere spin-off, either. The words  "future of the franchise" were used quite liberally. As for what form it'll take, we have no idea.  For now, Namco Bandai's touting "unreleased titles on console, mobile, arcade, and more."

We're willing to bet, however, that it'll involve pellet-munching, ghosts, and mazes in some way or another. So, in that spirit, we've whipped up what we figure is the most plausible next step for everyone's favorite, er, yellow... circle... thing.

"It's the year 2043, and the evil WAKA military organization has seized control of the entire world. Using its brutal yet undeniably effective police squads, known as 'Ghosts,' WAKA's oppressive regime has all but eradicated any form of resistance - and with it, hope. However, former newspaper maze-solving enthusiast John Smith refuses to let WAKA have the last laugh. With his signature P.A.C.M.A.N. projectile launcher - known in some circles as 'a really big gun' - Smith takes the fight to WAKA in this upcoming post-apocalyptic first-person shooter from Namco Bandai."

Yeah, yuck it up now. But just you wait. Come E3, you'll be feeling nearly as silly as we do right now.
