Fruit Ninja is the best-selling Windows Phone 7 game
Halfbrick's Phil Larsen has told VG247 that casual slicer Fruit Ninja is Windows Phone 7's most popular game.
Speaking in an interview published today, Larsen confirmed the independent title had topped the platform's sales charts.
"It was released on December 22nd, so it’s only a couple of weeks old, and it’s done really well so far. It’s the number-one selling game on Windows Phone 7," he said.
Impressive sales performance and prevalent word-of-mouth hype may explain Microsoft's enthusiastic embrace of Halfbrick's swiping, slicing title during its CES 2011 keynote, but the team were nevertheless taken aback.
"It’s as big as it gets – Steve Ballmer, talking about Fruit Ninja. That’s amazing," Larsen said.
Fruit Ninja has sold over four million copies in iOS form, and is also available via the Android market.
