FreeStyle Games "actively working with Activision" over future
DJ Hero developer FreeStyle Games has released a statement, confirming that no jobs have been cut at the developer to date and were looking at its options.
"We're actively working with Activision on various options going forward for the studio. No decisions have been taken at this stage," said the studio in a statement attributed to founders David Osbourn, Chris Lee and Jamie Jackson.
"We appreciate everyone's support through this process and will be as open and transparent as possible as soon as we know more."
It comes after Activision pulled the plug on the DJ Hero business unit and canned development on the 2011 edition of the series alongside canning Guitar Hero.
"Due to continued declines in the music genre, the company will disband Activision Publishing's DJ Hero business unit and discontinue development on its DJ Hero game for 2011," read a statement on the game's official Facebook page.
"These decisions are based on the desire to focus on the greatest opportunities that the company currently has to create the world's best interactive entertainment experiences."
The first DJ Hero launched in 2009. A subsequent sequel followed a year later. Both were critically recieved, but didn't do as well in terms of sales
