Freedom Wars "Accessory" companions detailed

Freedom Wars offers the player a troop of customisable android companions called Accessories.

According to updates to the official website translated by Siliconera, Accessories exist both to keep watch over the player and to assist in battle.

Their faces and bodies are customisable, and players can decorate them with various items like headphones, glasses and decals.

Contrary to earlier reports, it looks like the game's RubyTalk feature will be used to add custom battle phrases to Accessories, not to communicate with other players. Once you've written a phrase, you'll be able to adjust accent, pitch and speed. It's not clear if it will involve true text-to-speech or whether players will select from a set vocabulary.

Two characters were detail in the update, too. Beatrice “Lilly” Anastasi is a female rescued by the protagonist before being held captive in the same Panopticon. A technology geek who strives to remain positive, she seems to have given up hope for escape and her own life.

Abel “Strafe” Balto is a character form a rival Panopticon called Hourai. One of the world's strongest Panopticon prisoners, he is the ace of his team. His Panopticon has strong alliances with others but is a direct competitor to the protagonist's. He controls the legendary Red Rage, the oldest man-made abductor, and as such some suspect Hourai has found a way to revive older technologies.

Previously known by its codename Panopticon, Freedom Wars is headed to Vita in Japan during northern summer. A western release has not been confirmed, although it does support English, for the import crowd.
