Free-to-play Silent Hunter Online announced, beta applications being accepted

Ubisoft has announced the development of a free-to-play installment of the Silent Hunter series. Titled Silent Hunter Online, the firm is now accepting closed beta applications for the browser-based multiplayer game in development at Ubisoft Blue Byte. According to the firm, the heart of the game is “the Battle of the Atlantic”, an "innovative dynamic campaign in which individual successes impact all other players through asynchronous gameplay." Also, for the first time in the Silent Hunter series, players will be able to play every mission of the campaign in co-op. The Silent Hunter franchise has sold nearly 2 million copies worldwide since the first release in 1996. A couple screens are posted below.
