Foundation devs show off medieval city-building masterclass
PAX Digital x EGX Digital has kicked off in style, and if Sid Meier giving an in-depth discussion of his career isn't enough for you, how about a city-building masterclass in Foundation from the folks over at Polymorph Games?
Creative director Philippe Dion and community manager Andy Ashton from the studio join by resident RPS game-world architect, Alice Bell, to take a look into Foundation's unique take on medieval settlement building.
Foundation – the strategy/city-builder/economy simulation game – is more about being prosperous and intelligent with your city planning than it is about conquering other duchies, and that makes it quite unique.
Dion and Ashton take us through a demo of the game, giving us insight into how best to set up your town for maximum efficiency and prosperity – all whilst explaining how the studio managed to make a city-building game that's totally and utterly gridless.
The video panel also provides a sneak-peek at some upcoming features the devs are planning in the game (including a UI refresh and some new biomes), a rundown of what the modding community is doing in the title, and more.
More PAX Digital x EGX Digital panels are planned for the next few days, and you can take a look at the schedule for some developer-lead game reveals that are coming as part of the online-only event, too.
