Forza Horizon 4 is getting a route creator, new Horizon Story in this week's patch
Forza Horizon 4's first big patch is coming this week, and Playground has outlined exactly what players can expect.
As revealed in the Forza Horizon 4 post-launch roadmap announced ahead of launch, the game's big first update is due out on Thursday. Though specific launch times have yet to be revealed, we do know exactly what's coming.
The most major addition is of course the route creator, which allows all players to draw the race route they want anywhere on the map. This is an advanced version of the blueprint system we had in Horizon 3, and the one available now in Horizon 4.
From pre-release footage, the interface looks very intuitive. To create a route, you simply need to pull up to any race starting location, and once you're in, drive your car around to paint the route. You'll be able to place checkpoints anywhere in the world, which is great news for those looking to create less restrictive tracks.
The new Horizon Story is called British Racing Green, and it focuses on exploring cars made in Britain. Horizon Stories are multi-chapter campaigns that let you take a few cars for a spin and task you with beating certain times or achieving a score objective.
British Racing Green is available to players level 50 or higher, and you can start it in Broadway. Outside of new content, the patch is also adding a quit button in Team Adventure, and increasing the quality of trees and grass at a distance on PC when using the extreme preset.

Route creator
- Create custom routes of up to 40 miles from any Asphalt, Dirt or Cross-Country Event starting location.
- Draw the custom route by driving your car, and place checkpoints anywhere you want to.

- Fix for HDR brightness calibration screen.
- Fix for traffic cars not spawning sometimes after a Barn Find cinematic.
- Fix for displayed value of VIP house when VIP owned, but house not purchased.
- Fix for rotating wheels when car is stationary in Pause Menu, ForzaVista and Drone Mode.
PC fixes
- Fix for video options being lost when tweaking AMD GPU clock speeds.
- Increased quality of grass and tree procedurals at distance when Procedural Quality setting is set to Extreme.
- Fix for 'low streaming bandwidth' message on high spec PCs when GPU-limited.
- Fix for crash when changing audio devices whilst a video is playing.
