Fortnite: here are the World Cup results, plus the first season 10 tease
The Fortnite World Cup has wrapped up, and some very talented teenagers are now millionaires.
The event, which wrapped up today in New York City, was split between a duos tournament on Saturday July 27 and a singles tournament on Sunday July 28. It was viewed by more than two million people.
The World Cup has now wrapped up, and the winners and podium placers are going home much richer than before. The winners were determined by a points system across six games, designed to determine the overall best player and team.
In the duos competition, 'Nyhrox' and 'aqua' claimed victory, winning games four and five and pulling ahead of the competition in the final game of the day. They went home with US$3 million between them.
In the solo competition, teenager 'Bugha' took the top prize, winning game one before ultimately finishing with a huge point lead. He also took home $3 million, but he doesn't have to share it.
Congratulations to all the winners, who are now much, much wealthier than we will ever be.
In the wake of the Fortnite World Cup, we've also had our first little tease of what's to come in season 10 thanks to a tweet from the game's official account.
The tweet encourages us to 'think back' to, if we're looking at this properly, Dusty Depot - a site that has long since been destroyed.
If Dusty Depot is coming back, what other changes might we be looking at? Could season 10 reset the map before slowly blowing it up again? Time will tell - Fortnite's next season begins on August 1.
