Looks like the Fortnite version of Apex Legends' respawn system is already in the game

Fortnite players have discovered what could very well be the game's upcoming respawn system.

In case you missed it, Fortnite's Season 8 has officially kicked off, bringing new content, changing the map, and launching a new battle pass with fresh skins.

After installing the update, players exploring the map came upon a strange-looking van projecting a hologram above it. The hologram looks like the default player character, which means we're very likely looking at a respawn vehicle.

Fortnite does not officially have this feature, of course, but just before Season 8 started, developer Epic said it's looking into bringing it to the game. The reason why players are asking for this now has to do with Apex Legends, which, among many other nifty additions, introduced the ability for players to bring their dead teammates back during the round.

This can only be done at spawn stations scattered around the map, provided you picked up their tags. Though Epic has yet to officially detail how this is going to work in Fortnite, from the looks of things, it's going to be almost identical to Apex Legends.

Adding further clarification, Twitter user @FortTory found that the vehicle's mesh file in-game refer to it as the Second Chance Van. What's more, they also found FX files for a card players pick up.

It's believed that these cards will be part of the dead teammates' stash, which their alive squad members can pick up and use at a Second Chance Van to spawn them again.

As you can see, Epic has already laid the groundwork for a respawn system. It's now a question of when, and not if.
