Fortnite on Android could be a Samsung exclusive launching this week
Fortnite for Android could possibly be launching this week exclusively on the Galaxy Note 9, according to Dataminers.
XDA-developers reports that Fortnite might be launching on Android as a Samsung exclusive on the Galaxy Note 9 and potentially on the Galaxy Tab S4 too.
After datamining the installer APK file, the site reports that customers who pre-order the new smartphone will receive 15,000 V-Bucks.
The Galaxy Note 9 is set to launch on August 9, and the current version of the Fortnite Android APK is 5.2 which is rolling out across all versions of the game later this week, suggesting the title might be launching on the platform this week.
Epic Games has teased the release of the Android version of the game, saying that it's due to launch this summer.
The developer has confirmed that it won't use Google Play to distribute the game to Android users, but with the number of potential players on the platform, it could be that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 release will be a timed exclusive.
"Epic wants to have a direct relationship with our customers on all platforms where that’s possible,” Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said.
The game released on iOS in the Spring, and had a staggered launch with invite-only access.
With the sheer number of Android users, it's likely they'll follow the same pattern with the launch on the platform.
For now, we'll have to wait a few days and see if Samsung has bagged the game as a launch title for its new phone.
