Fortnite Battle Royale is getting a replay editor

A replay system is in the works for Fortnite Battle Royale, enabling content creators to use footage of recorded gameplay sessions to make replay videos.

During a State of Unreal presentation at GDC 2018, Epic Games announced a replay editor in the works for Fortnite Battle Royale.

According to Eurogamer which attended the presentation, the editing suite allows players and content creators to use footage of recorded gameplay sessions.

Sounding similar to Minkonet’s 3D replay feature in PUBG, gameplay sessions in Fortnite Battle Royale are captured using a free camera. Captured sessions can then be used to create all sorts of interesting replay videos.

Alternatively, captured sessions can be used by players to "evaluate performances" before taking part in future matches.

Various setting will be available such as exposure, focal length and focus, and the ability to view health stats, equipped weapons and more.

Epic will release the tools to developers in Unreal Engine 4.20 this summer.

A launch date for the replay feature was not provided, but Epic said it would be released "soon" for consoles and PC.
