Fortnite's Account Merge feature delayed to early next year
Epic Games has delayed Fortnite's Account Merge feature until early 2019.
Fortnite players will have to wait until early next year to merge their accounts due to technical issues encountered by Epic.
According to an update from the studio, "some ongoing technical concerns," have caused the delay and it wants to make sure the process is thoroughly tested beforehand.
The development team wants to ensure the Account Merge feature is working properly before allowing players to transfer purchases from other accounts to their primary account.
It was announced in September the feature would be implemented in November. Merging accounts will allow Fortnite players with multiple console-linked accounts to transfer Battle Royale cosmetic purchases, lifetime wins, V-Bucks, and Save the World campaign access.
This option came about due to some PS4 players having to create a new Epic account in order to play it on Switch or Xbox One. Sony wasn't allowing folks to use the same account if it was created on PS4.
Sony was opposed to cross-platform play, which was available with mobile, PC, Switch and Xbox One. In September, it changed its mind after folks make it clear this was something they wanted. Sony now allows cross-play - at least with Fortnite.
