Five hidden improvements in the Skyrim Special Edition you haven't noticed
Yes it looks better, but did you notice these tweaks?
Skyrim Special Edition came out last week and it looks just as good as I remember. Except better, because the rose-tinted glasses of my memory have given it a significant graphical boost.
The official blurb lists "remastered art and effects, volumetric god rays, dynamic depth of field, screen-space reflections, and more," as the main changes, but there have been a number of subtle tweaks that contribute to the immersion that you may not have noticed.
YouTuber Brodual demonstrated five examples in the video above.
The first is rain occlusion, which means that precipitation doesn't clip through shelters anymore. Stability has also been improved, as demonstrated by the slaughter of 200 soldiers and subsequent stroll through the piles of bodies.
The water has had an overhaul with rivers flowing more realistically and slowing down around obstacles, and if you were in a rush to escape Helgen, you may not have realised that you can now loot the torturer's hood.
If you have a few minutes spare the video is definitely worth a watch.
