Fishlabs acquired by Koch Media, co-founders to depart

Mobile developer Fishlabs has been acquired by publisher Koch Media. Co-founders Schade and Lohr are to depart the firm, with no other redundancies.

Co-founder Schade confirmed the news earlier but was reluctant to name a buyer. Koch Media later announcing it had bought the company. Following the deal, Fishlab as a brand will be no-more, as all of it's assets will be transferred over to Koch Media and will become part of the publisher's Hamburg office once the deal is done.

"The mobile gaming market is strategically important to Koch Media," said Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, MD of Koch Media. "These days, games are played anytime and anywhere - both at home and on the go. The know-how and brands which Fishlabs brings along give us the expertise required in order to establish ourselves in this exciting field for the long term," he added.

PocketGamer reports that all 52 staff members of Fishlabs are to retain their positions in the transfer, with the exception of co-founders Schade and Lohr, whom are to depart.

Fishlabs is a German studio that develops for mobile platforms and is known for its Galaxy on Fire series.
