Firewatch's photo print feature is amazing, but only on PC right now
The PC version of Firewatch comes with a very unique bonus that we wish the PlayStation 4 version had.
Firewatch is out today on PC, Mac, Linux, as well as PlayStation 4. All of these versions are virtually identical, except for a very cool, completely new feature, only available to PC players.
Some minor spoilers for Firewatch to follow. They're not story-related, but some would consider it a spoiler.
About halfway through the game, you find a camera. Both Hank and Delilah (game characters) suggest it should be used for taking pictures. Because Firewatch looks so good, if you're not already busy taking Steam screenshots, you will be using it to capture some of the game's most beautiful scenes.
When you finish the game, you will get a chance to export these pictures to a custom-made link, have them developed, printed, and sent to your address. These 4x6 prints look really good, and they cost $15 (via Eurogamer).
We got in touch with developer Campo Santo to ask why this feature wasn't implemented on the PS4 version, and if we'll be seeing it there sometime.
"The photo feature in Firewatch is a network service that runs on a server we're operating ourselves, which is why it's a PC-only feature," a representative told us.
Being a technical hurdle, seeing it on PlayStation 4 is still possible, even if Campo Santo has yet to look into it.
Firewatch has had rave reviews so far, including one from this very website.
