Final Fantasy Versus XIII nearly ready for real-time demo
Tetsuya Nomura has said the next time Final Fantasy Versus XIII is shown, it will finally be a live demonstration running on consumer hardware.
Previous trailers and demos have been rendered on development equipment, which is almost always well beyond what the box under your telly will produce.
The director and producer could not give a date for Final Fantasy Versus XIII's next showing, but speaking to Famitsu, as translated by Andriasang, Nomura confirmed Square Enix would not be holding a January event to showcase its games, as it did in 2010.
Nomura said that cutscenes are split between real time and pre-rendered on a ratio of 7:3. He said a scene in which major characters Noctus and Stella meet has been switched to a pre-rendered video, because player control wouldn't add much to the event.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII is expected on PlayStation 3. One day. Maybe. Probably.
While discussing the 1st production department's activities, Nomura also confirmed that Final Fantasy X HD is in development, and said Kingdom Hearts 3D's ending had been re-written in an unconventional way, and will sport a secret ending as well.
