Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition finally has a release date

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition won't make 2019 after all - but it'll arrive early in 2020, at least.

The remake of the GameCube four-player co-op adventure RPG will arrive on January 23, 2020. It's coming to Switch and PS4, but also to mobile devices.

The news comes via the official Final Fantasy Twitter account, confirming that the game's fans will want to line up their co-op sessions for January.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is something a bit different in the Final Fantasy canon, replacing turn-based battles with more of an action game style. The original GameCube release also encouraged players to connect up a Game Boy Advance to the GameCube, and playing it the way it was intended to be played - four player couch co-op where each player had a Link Cable attached to a Game Boy - was very difficult for most people to organise. Reviews at the time were largely positive, though.

This version will have online multiplayer, and, we imagine, probably won't support the Game Boy Advance at all. It'll also have cross-play, so you can play against your friends on other systems, including mobile.
