Of course one of two new Final Fantasy 7 mobile games is a battle royale
Plenty of Final Fantasy 7 is coming over the next several months.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade may have been one of the biggest reveals at Sony's State of Play livestream, but it's not the only new Final Fantasy 7 game Square Enix announced that day.
The Japanese publisher, in fact, revealed two new mobile games in the Final Fantasy 7 universe. The first, Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis is a single-player, story-focused episodic take on the whole Final Fantasy 7 saga, taking into account the original game and all compilations. Ever Crisis will also introduce new story by Final Fantasy 7 Remake story and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima.
Some of that new story content will lead into the other mobile game: Final Fantasy 7 The First Soldier, a multiplayer battle royale shooter also coming to mobile. The First Soldier is set in Midgar, 30 years prior to the events of the main game. You play as one of many Soldier candidates, all vying for survival to prove their worth for the Shira military.
Gameplay is mostly shooting, but candidates can also make use of magic abilities and other Final Fantasy tools to given them a leg up.
Both Ever Crisis, and First Soldier are in development for Android and iOS. First Soldier is coming this year, whereas Ever Crisis is due out next year.
