Final Fantasy 15: 'nothing has been decided yet' on Switch version, Pocket Edition has 'nothing added or subtracted'

Hajime Tabata, director of Final Fantasy 15, has dropped some interesting info in a new interview.

The full interview, conducted by DualShockers, is worth a read. There's plenty of info in there about the upcoming editions of Final Fantasy 15 for mobile, PC, and Xbox One X, as well as the possibility of a Switch version.

When it comes to Nintendo's console, "nothing has really been decided yet", Tabata says. They've tested the Luminous Engine on the Switch, but apparently realised that they "can’t bring out the most of (their) engine on the platform"." We kind of stopped there for the time being, but we are still looking into the platform and seeing what we can do on it", Tabata says.

Talking about the Xbox One X upgrade for the game, he says that the game's 4K resolution will be achieved by running natively in 3K and upscaling via checkerboarding. This was also the case for the game's PS4 Pro upgrade.

Tabata also commented on the recent Assassin's Festival crossover event with Assassin's Creed, saying that "there is nothing else planned in terms of collaborations or crossovers" right now, but that they would be open to doing it again "if it’s something like this where we can really work together and really do something beneficial for both sides."

The upcoming Pocket Edition, which brings the game to mobile devices, also gets discussed. It's "geared towards people who have never played the original", and although it will be geared towards shorter sessions, "there’s nothing actually added or subtracted from the main experience" (although none of the game's DLC will be included).

There's also some discussion of the upcoming standalone VR experience, Monster of the Deep, which is "probably about a six hour story".

Be sure to check out the full interview if you're a Final Fantasy fan.
