FIFA 14 gamescom 2013: demo out September 10, Co-op Seasons detailed, new footage

A current-gen trailer for FIFA 14 narrated by Patrick Stewart was shown during EA's gamescom presentation. Loads of news within - co-op seasons, Ultimate Team Legends, free-to-play mobile, and more.

Executive producer David Rutter came on stage to discuss real movements, how "jam packed" FIFA 14 is with "new features and innovation," and how it's out in September.

FIFA 14 stats will also carry across from current-gen version to next-gen consoles - as previously announced, including Ultimate Team full roster, progress, in-game items in-game currency (coins), Football Club level, XP, select catalogue items such as celebrations and historical kits, Seasons progress (including trophy case and leaderboards, Virtual Pro and accomplishments), and selected Career Mode rewards.

PS4 footage of FIFA 14 was shown, and the game will contain an authentic stadium atmosphere with over 100 in-game cameras positioned around the pitch so the player can watch different replays. Otther new presentation features include broadcast-inspired stadium flyovers and emotional pre-match ceremonies. A new feature called Match Flow aims to deliver dynamic and continuous gameplay; players will interact with side-line characters such as ball boys, and fans will witness the build-up and player positioning prior to corners or free kicks.

The Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of FIFA 14 will have an exclusive mode called Utimate Team Legends, starring famous footballers from throughout history. Each Legend will have unique attributes that will showcase the skills and flair that made them legendary at the height of their careers, and will be randomly included in Gold Packs in FIFA 14 Ultimate Team beginning with the launch of the Xbox One. "Our fans will be able to bring stars from different eras together to create teams and combinations they have previously only dreamed about," Rutter said.

"For the first time ever, you will be able to play with Pele and Messi in the same lineup. It is going to create a unique experience within our most popular game mode."

Seasons has been developed into a new mode called Co-op Seasons, where "anyone can play with a friend online against two other online friends anywhere in the world in 2v2 ranked online play" in an attempt to reach Division One and eventually take a league title together. Match Day has been expanded to Seasons and Co-op seasons

FIFA 14 is coming to 3DS, PC, PlayStation 3, PSP, PS2, PS4, Vita, Wii, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The first console versions ship in North America on September 24 and worldwide on September 27, with next-gen due in November when the new consoles launch.

A mobile versions is coming to Android and iDevice in northern autumn, with toher platforms to follow. it will be free-to-play.

A demo is coming on September 10.

EA also reiterated that FIFA World will also be coming to PC in Brazil and Russia within the year.
