FIFA 11: No online Manager Mode this year, says producer

FIFA 11 producer David Rutter has told Eurogamer that this year's edition in the series won't have an online manager mode.

Rutter said that EA Sports had no intention of adding it in this year, but might do so for future titles "in the long-term".

When asked if it was being added for this year, he said: "If I'm brutally honest, no." But he added: "Long-term ambition, it would be brilliant."

Rutter was keen to stress, however, that the mode - which he claims is the most popular mode in FIFA - won't move into an online space until it's at its best.

"I've seen a number of ways of doing it start and fail," he said.

"Until I'm utterly convinced there's a way of providing the massive user-base of Manager Mode players with a compelling mechanic that will work, I would be very reluctant to go to market with something I'm not 100 per cent convinced with, because I think this is something you can only do once."

EG's gone live with a preview of the game get that here. It's set to also be shown at E3 next week, as well as at gamescom in Cologne in August.

FIFA 11 releases this autumn.
