Fatal Frame: The Raven Haired Shrine Maiden's box art revealed, but it's fairly run-of-the-mill
The upcoming Wii U iteration of the popular Fatal Frame series is releasing in Japan on September 27, but the Japanese box art has been released ahead of time.
Gematsu reports that the official imagery has been culled from Amazon Japan, and from the look of it, it's fairly tame by the series' usual standards.
The box art depicts both of the game's female leads floating in a pool of water, facing each other.
Fatal Frame: The Raven Haired Shrine Maiden is purported to have been created around the concept of "water," which explains the look that seems to conjure that of a watery grave, but it looks to be devoid of the stylistically impressive creep factor that Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly and Fatal Frame III: The Tormented possessed for their respective covers.
The Wii U exclusive has not yet been confirmed for a Western release, though given the system's lack of horror adventures, it could bolster sales for those looking for a more adventurous "adult" option to add to their Wii U libraries.
Thanks, Gematsu.
