Fargo: "Nothing would make me happier," than a chance to "build up" Black Isle again

inXile Entertainment's Brian Fargo has said "nothing would make" him "happier than reforming Black Isle Studios in some capacity.

Speaking with RipTen, Fargo, who helped create the Black Isle label division of Interplay Entertainment, said he talks to the studios former developers "all the time." Specifically its co-founder Feargus Urquhart as well as Chris Avellone, both of which went on to form Obsidian Entertainment after Interplay ran into financial issues back in 2003.

"Obsidian are still working on projects, it’s not like they are going away," said Fargo. "I have a lot of love for those guys. If [Wasteland 2] works, it will give me a platform for doing things again.

"If this continues to work, and certainly we’re off to a great start—this game has got to be great—if I deliver that, I think there would be a chance to build it up again. Nothing would make me happier."

In response, Chris Avellone said the following to RipTen: "Brian gave me my first job in the industry, I loved being at Interplay while he was there, and I love Wasteland.

"If there was a way to work both with Obsidian and work with Brian and InXile, I would do it," he said.

The Wasteland 2 Kickstarter campaign is still on going, and as of post time, 32,442 backers have provided $1,622,500 in funding.
