Modding and community servers are coming to Fallout 76, but “it’s going to take a while”
Modding and personalising your experience has always been a big part of Fallout - especially on PC. Fallout 76 is no exception, despite being a multiplayer game.
Eventually, Bethesda wants to support modding and community servers for Fallout 76.
“We love the modding community and we’ve been supporting them for decades,” project lead Jeff Gardiner said during a recent roundtable. “We do plan to launch private worlds in the future where people can modify their servers as they see fit.
“We 100% want to support [community servers]. That has been my goal with this game since day one.”
However, don’t expect these options to land at launch, or any time near launch.
“By the way, we should be clear, [this won’t happen] all that close to launch,” Bethesda VP of marketing Pete Hines added.
“It ain’t happening a couple of months after launch, it’s gonna take some amount of time to spin up your private servers to support whatever mods you want to run. It’s going to take a while.”
Here's our impressions of three hours play of Fallout 76, which is out on November 14. While you wait, here’s everything we know about Fallout 76.
