Fallout 4 - How to Equip Settlers with Vault Suits and Pip-boys
Earn the Vault Dweller achievement in Fallout 4.
This guide will show players how to equip a settler with a Vault Suit and Pip-boy in Fallout 4. Players will need the Vault Tec Workshop DLC in order to complete this task and earn the Vault Dweller trophy/achievement.
In the Fallout 4 Vault Tec Workshop DLC, players must take control of Vault 88 and decide what sort of temperament they wish to exhibit as Overseer of the vault. The Vault Tec Workshop DLC mainly consists of renovating Vault 88 and conducting depraved experiments on unwitting settlers. However, if these naïve settlers are ever to become true Vault Dwellers, they are going to need the appropriate set of attire.
In order to earn the Vault Dweller trophy/achievement, players must equip a settler in Vault 88 with a Vault Suit and Pip-boy. Start by heading to Vault 88 to begin the Vault Tec Workshop DLC. If you need help finding the vault, check out our guide on how to find Vault 88 in Fallout 4.
Continue into the vault and speak with Overseer Barstow to begin the quest titled A Model Citizen. Agree to assist Barstow with her experiments, and complete the tasks she asks of you. After activating the radio beacon, new settlers will arrive. Overseer Barstow will ask you to interview a new vault dweller named Clem. Speak with Clem to kick off a quest titled Power to the People.
Near the entrance ramp to Vault 88, you’ll find a blue trunk that contains a stack of Vault 88 Jumpsuits and Pip-boys. You may have snagged these already when you first arrived at Vault 88, so double check your inventory just to be sure. There should be 10 of each item, enough to outfit a full group of settlers.
Your next step is to equip Clem with a Vault 88 jumpsuit and Pip-boy of his own. This is the same method you would use to outfit your Companion with new gear. Head back over to Clem and speak with him to open his inventory.
Transfer one Vault 88 jumpsuit and one Pip-boy from your inventory into Clem’s. The Pip-boy is found in the “My Inventory” category, while the Vault 88 Jumpsuit is found in the “My Apparel” section. The Pip-boy will equip even if it is not listed in Clem’s inventory when transferred.
Upon completing the transfer and closing the inventory, you will earn the Vault Dweller trophy/achievement. You can now outfit your other settlers with the remaining Vault 88 Jumpsuits if you wish. Feel free to browse our other Fallout 4 guides, including Fallout 4: All Bobblehead Locations.
