Fall Guys mobile version being developed for China

A mobile version of Fall Guys is currently in development for the Chinese market.

The news comes from games industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, who covers the Chinese and Asian video game markets. Check out Ahmad's tweet below.

"Chinese games and entertainment company Bilibili has secured the rights to publish a mobile version of Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout in China," the tweet reads. "The game released for PC and PS4 on August 4, 2020 and has become a viral hit."

Ahmad went on to note that this is the first official confirmation that a mobile version of the indie hit is actually in development. Although unsurprising, Ahmad points out that it's interesting to see the Chinese mobile version officially being announced prior to any news on the edition for the West.

It's also important to mention that people have already started to exploit the inherent potential imbued in a mobile port, with a variety of scams popping up on all major mobile storefronts. Fall Guys developer Mediatonic addressed the phenomenon on Twitter, warning fans that there is currently no supported way to play the game on mobile.

"Fall Guys is only available on PC & PS4," the tweet reads. "If you see any ads for a mobile version they are scams."

"a) They're literally playing a video and pretending to play it
b) There's literally a mouse cursor on the screen
c) I don't want to live on this planet anymore
d) Yeet me into the sun"

For those who are still somehow unacquainted with Mediatonic's viral hit, its success has been nothing short of remarkable. After amassing 120k concurrent players within 24 hours of launching, Fall Guys went on to top the Steam charts, even beating the PC port for critically-acclaimed RPG Horizon: Zero Dawn.

It's reasonable to attribute this to its excellently absurd social media presence. For example, the Fall Guys Twitter account recently said that if their tweet got 1 million retweets, they would delete the entire yellow team. Just for a laugh.

In related news, Fall Guys was pitched to ten publishers before Devolver picked it up. I'd say they're all absolutely kicking themselves now.
