ex-Cohort devs form Beartrap Games, Scottish industry continues to expand
Beartrap Games is yet another new Scottish developer, formed by ex-Cohort Studios Fin McGechie, Gordon McLean and Grant Alexande. The team hopes to expand rapidly and is looking to launch into some new IP going forward.
GI.biz reports that four positions at the studio have been revealed so far - creative director Fin McGechie, technical director Gordon McLean, marketing director Grant Alexander and freelance sound designer James Scanlon.
Grant Alexander said of the announcement, "This is a very exciting time for the new company. Although it is very early days, we have been overwhelmed by the support given by individuals from both the games industry and public bodies."
He added, "As well as developing our own IP and concepts, we are focused on finding projects and partners to work with. We are in a great position to be able to grow quickly and can consider a project of any size."
Fin McGechie also stated, "Our new company also aims to prove itself as a reliable and trusted partner for joint development projects and welcomes all approaches."
The news follows an incorrect Scottish Government report that found the country's games industry to be practically worthless.
