No Man's Sky launched earlier this week, and it's fast becoming the most polarizing game around. But is it worth jumping into? That's the million dollar question, isn't it?

We've spent the past week writing about, streaming, and reviewing No Man's Sky, which you can find below. It covers pretty much everything you need: our review (so far), our opinions, and some tips for getting started. We'll add to this space as we write more. Until then, see you... out there (or not).

Our Review

From the review: "What it comes down to is that No Man's Sky is not nearly as varied and interesting as it seems to suggest. Its basic loop involves jumping into a star system; scanning for facilities or resource caches; visiting a sad little bunker that may or may not have an alien residing in it, mining some resources, and heading to the next system to do it all over again. It's repetition writ large."

Analysis

  • No Man's Sky and Understanding the Day One Patch: "Patches, while rather annoying - there's nothing like wanting to play a game, popping in a disc, and having to wait for it to patch - tends to make games better. They either fix bugs, make tweaks, or vastly improve certain features in the game and that's always a good thing in my book. I'd rather have No Man's Sky with the features listed above than without." - Mike Williams.

  • No Man's Sky Seamlessness is its Greatest Strength: "No Man's Sky's seamlessness has done as much as anything to keep me engaged with its universe. It's made it so that whenever I see a colorful looking planet in the distance, I immediately want to go explore. That first moment when you settle down onto the ground and pop your cockpit is probably the most rewarding feeling in the game." - Kat Bailey

  • Adding Base Building Isn't the Answer for No Man's Sky: "Part of the No Man's Sky experience is the twinge of sadness that you feel when you jet into lower orbit and look down on the rolling hills and Mackeysaurs that you're leaving behind. It can be sad, but there comes a time when it's time to leave. But then, I've never been one to settle in one place for too long." - Kat Bailey

  • No Man's Sky: Not For Everyone: "I'm about twelve hours into No Man's Sky, and while I'm incredibly impressed with the game, I have mixed feelings about it. Indeed, I'm beginning to wonder whether I might well be one of the people Hello Games' managing director Sean Murray was talking about when he said, "This game might not be for everyone, I expect it to be super divisive," on his company's blog a few days ago." - Jaz Rignall
