Everybody's Gone to the Rapture dev to announce new game soon

The team behind Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is almost ready to tell us about its latest effort.

Independent developer The Chinese Room has a new game in the works, and we'll be finding out about it "in the next couple of weeks".

The project is being developed independent of publisher funding, so The Chinese Room is able to be open its process to interested onlookers. It also owns the IP, and seems interested in pursuing merchandise opportunities.

The team's last two games were produced under quite different circumstances. Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is a sequel to Frictional's Amnesia: The Dark Descent, while Everybody's Gone to the Rapture was published by Sony. This doesn't seem to be have been a super rad fun time experience for the entire crew, as former co-studio head Jessica Curry elected to distance herself from the company after years of being relegated to Dan Pinchbeck's shadow.

Prior to these commerical releases, The Chinese Room was known for Half-life mods Korsakovia and Dear Esther, the latter of which also went on to commercial release - and acclaim.
