Everybody's Golf also got a secret E3 2017 trailer, which rather undermines its pretensions to inclusivity
If it's Everybody's Golf, why did we have to go hunting for the trailer, eh? More like Golf for A Few People Devotedly Scouring Press Assets Today.
Everybody's Golf is the latest in a series you may know as Hot Shots Golf or Minna No Golf, depending on your home region. It only has one title in English this time, thankfully.
Sony first announced Everybody's Golf in 2015, but nobody paid any attention so it announced the game again this April.
I'm not sure the second go brought any better results, and perhaps that's why Sony didn't bother to front the trailer during its E3 2017 presser, preferring instead to slip it out quietly with all the other assets. It did something similar with Gran Turismo Sport, actually.
Sony didn't have much new to say about Everybody's Golf, which releases in late August. If you're an old school PlayStation fan you no doubt remember the series, which was a pretty prominent piece of Sony's catalogue for a few years before fading away - maybe because Wii Sports did accessible golf with cute customised characters more successfully.
This reboot retains the famous three click gameplay, but adds more character customisation, multiple online modes, fishing, kart racing and treasure hunting in an open world. Everything but the kitchen sink. Maybe there's a kitchen sink, too.
