EVE players gain 5 trillion ISK using faction warfare exploit
A group of five EVE Online players figured out how to manipulate the new reward system for faction warfare in the Inferno expansion, thus generating five trillion ISK - which amounts to $175,000 in real world, US dollars.
The new mechanic introduced with the Inferno expansion, provides loyalty points based on the value of a destroyed enemy ship and its cargo.
A bug, which rewarded players for both the destroyed and surviving cargo, was abused by the group by <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/06/22/eve-players-abuse-faction-warfare-to-produce-trillions-of-isk/http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/06/22/eve-players-abuse-faction-warfare-to-produce-trillions-of-isk/reports Massively</a>.
The points were cashed out into items for sale on the market, this making the players 5 trillion ISK richer.
CCP has not labeled this as an exploit yet, but it is still investigating it now that the fix has been applied.
