EVE Online to feature more high-priced items, says CCP

CCP has said that it'll include more high-priced items for sale in EVE Online than a $70 molecule.

The company jokingly mooted the idea of "gold-coloured scorpions" as one example. And there won't be any objections to the items from the CSM [Council of Stellar Management].

"I fully expect so at some point - yeah, definitely," senior producer Arnar Gylfason told Eurogamer.

"My perspective and the CSM's perspective is that if they come out with something like - just as a hypothetical [example] - unique ship models with limited runs that they want to charge $1 billion for," said CSM chairman Alex "The Mittani" Gianturco.

"As long as it doesn't impact the competitive gameplay of Eve Online - If some crazy rich person wants to buy that, I don't care and, by and large, the CSM doesn't care, and that money helps go to develop Eve."

The virtual goods store was included with the release of the expansion Incarna. EVE came under fire from fans after it was discovered that CCP was planning to charge users for game-altering items. CCP has since stepped back from the brink on that.
