EVE Online & DUST 514 back online after DDOS attacks
EVE Online and DUST 514 have been brought back online following a string of DDOS attacks, and developer CCP Games has issued a statement on the matter to put subscribers at ease.
UPDATE: GI.biz report that both EVE Online and DUST 514 are back online, and a blog post from CCP Games has shed some light on the matter.
The post explained, "What we can now confirm is that a person was able to utilize a vulnerability in one of the back-end services that support the operation of the Tranquility server. This vulnerability has now been secured and thoroughly tested."
CCP stressed that no customer details were compromised and that the team will continue to monitor both games to ensure it runs smoothly moving forward. The studio is looking at ways to compensate subscribers for any inconvenience caused.

ORIGINAL STORY: According to an update to the EVE Online Facebook page, CCP noticed a "significant and sustained distributed denial-of-service attacks" on Sunday afternoon, targeting the Tranquility server cluster housing both EVE Online and DUST 514.
"Our policy in such cases is to mobilize a taskforce of internal and external experts to evaluate the situation. At 03:07 GMT, that group concluded that our best course of action was to go completely offline while we put in place mitigation plans," the developer wrote.
"While we initially reopened EVE Online and DUST 514, we have since re-evaluated. With the highest sense of precaution we have taken Tranquility and associated websites back down for further investigation and an exhaustive scan of our entire infrastructure."
CCP has warned that it expects "an extended service interruption of several hours" as "this process should not be rushed".
The best place to monitor the situation is CCP's Twitter feed. At time of writing, the last update was over two hours ago, assuring fans that CCP is still hard at work but still has no ETA on when the MMOs will be back online.
Thanks, Massively.
