European ID protection program detailed by SCEE
SCEE's just released details of its ID protection system for PSN users following the service being hacked a month ago.
The program, which will also be used by Qriocity users, will go into affect in the UK, France, Spain and Germany. You'll be covered for free for up to a year by Sony whilst in the system.
The service, which is being offered by Affinion, will offer three key components:
- Personal Information protection - Monitoring and Alerting Service and Personal Information Protection Software
- Help / Assistance & Guidance - Dedicated helpline and Victim of Fraud support
- Financial Protection - Insurance that covers the expenses incurred in identity restoration following identity fraud and Card Monitoring and Alerting Service
Sony says it will continue the ongoing process of investigating possibily adding similar programs to other countries.

The program's introduction in Europe is similar to the one opened by SCEA a couple of weeks back.
PSN went down on April 19 due to an external intrusion, in which personal info of 77 million PSN users was compromised. Sony did not rule out the possibility that credit and debit card details were also exposed, but said there wasn't any evidence to suggest otherwise.
The service has since been partially restored, and online play has now resumed. PlayStation Store remains down until somepoint this month.
