Eternal Darkness trademark filed by Nintendo, covers digital distribution
Eternal Darkness has received a new trademark filing courtesy of Nintendo, and surprisingly the application covers digital distribution, causing old rumours of downloadable GameCube titles on Wii U to rear their salt-coated heads once more.
Posted by Siliconera, the filing differs from the last application filed by Nintendo in 2010.
The differences to the nature of the trademark are the lines "downloadable electronic game programs" and "downloadable electronic game software," which hints at a possible re-release in digital form. It follows rumours that GameCube titles will be heading to the Wii U eShop in due course.
A re-release of Eternal Darkness would be timely, seeing as Precursor Games is trying to get its spiritual successor Shadow of the Eternals Kickstarted.
