ESA report suggests crackdown on game copyright infringement in 2012

The Entertainment Software Association has released its 2012 annual report, confirming that it successfully served over 99,500 takedown notices to owners of Google Links leading to material that infringed on game copyrights.
Gamepolitics reports that across all forms of media, the ESA served a total of 3.4 million takedown notices last year alone, and that offending material was taken down 10% faster than they were in 2011.
Around 5.4 million files were deleted as a result of the crackdown, and about 55% of them were removed in less than a day, suggesting a real effort to block piracy of games and other infringements.
