Ericsson snapped up by Sony for €1.05 billion

Sony has bought out Ericsson's remaining 50 percent share in the previously joint venture, giving it full control of the company and of the PlayStation certified Xperia Play handset.
After was rumoured earlier in the month, Sony has swooped to take outright control of mobile handset manufacturer Sony Ericsson in a deal worth €1.05 billion / $1.45 billion.
"We can more rapidly and more widely offer consumers smartphones, laptops, tablets and televisions that seamlessly connect with one another and open up new worlds of online entertainment," said Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer.
