Enormous, gorgeous Mass Effect Andromeda 4K screens for the PC crowd, plus a look at the graphics options

Mass Effect Andromeda is going to look fabulous on PC, if these screens and details are anything to go by.

Mass Effect Andromeda will throw pretty decent graphics support at those who play on PC, but before we get into that let's check out some new 4K screens.

The images are huge, because they're designed to show off what Mass Effect Andromeda can do with a good rig and a 4K display, and since there's only four of them it seemed a shame to crunch them down. Apologies in advance for the dent this makes in your mobile browsing data, and for the slow loading of the page. Open the images in a new tab to see them full size.

The screens were captured using the Nvidia Ansel screenshotting tool, with Free Camera and Super Resolution switched on, so bear that in mind before you start flinging money at Mass Effect Andromeda - but note that they feature "no additional post-processing or Photoshopping".

Nvidia also revealed Mass Effect Andromeda's graphics options on PC. PC players will have several levels of detail to choose from across 16 different menus total. The work-in-progress graphics options menu includes:

  • ambient occlusion
  • anti-aliasing
  • chromatic aberration
  • effects quality
  • film grain
  • lighting quality
  • mesh quality
  • post-process effect quality
  • resolution scaling
  • shader quality
  • shadow quality
  • terrain quality
  • texture filtering quality
  • texture quality
  • vegetation quality

Nvidia also said Mass Effect Andromeda has "the best implementation of HDR seen to date on PC", if you have an HDR-compatible TV or monitor. That's the 16th graphics menu option, presumably, as Nvidia said it's an on-off toggle.

"With enough horsepower you’ll be able to run Mass Effect: Andromeda at 4K with maximum settings," Nvidia said. Better check in with the Mass Effect Andromeda minimum and recommended specs and see if you can do it, hey.

Mass Effect Andromeda releases this month on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

It's been in the works for five years, which is almost long enough for us to let go of our feelings about the original trilogy and be ready for these new adventures.
