El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron hitting Europe and US
UTV Ignition Entertainment's Sawaki Takeyasu, co-founder of Clover Studios and Masato Kimura are releasing El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron outside of Japan.
If those names sound familiar, they should. Takeyasu was the character artist on Devil May Cry and Okami, and Kimura also worked on Devil May Cry, the original Resident Evil and Viewtiful Joe.
The game will be shown at E3 next week, and it's being described as a cross between Bayonetta and Ico, with a visual style similar to the Prince of Persia reboot in 2008.
Originally released in Japan, the third-person fantasy title based on the Old Testamen's Book of Enoch, is slated for Europe and stateside on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.
Here's a better description of the game from the press release:
This is a 3rd person fantasy action title inspired by events in the Old Testament, in particular the apocryphal ‘Book of Enoch’. Enoch, a brave and just human, is caught up in a pivotal battle raging between Heaven and the Fallen Angels. Though lacking their monstrous powers, he must overcome the Fallen Angels in order to save humankind from a great flood ordered by Heaven to wash away their twisted empire on Earth. In order to succeed, Enoch must use his natural combat skills and master a range of powerful Heavenly weapons under the guidance of the watchful Archangels. Heaven’s true wild card is Lucifel, the enigmatic red–eyed angel, who is always in Enoch’s ear with a word of advice and a line in dry wit. The tale combines adventure, humour, and horror, along with breathtaking beauty and heart–tugging emotion.
Sounds cool. Check out the screens, and watch for more news on it coming out of E3.
