Looks like those who play football strategy-MMO Championship Manager Online MMO have until April 30 to enjoy the title, as it's to be shut down for good.

Players of the Jadestone title are none too happy about the announcement, and have set up a Facebook petition to save the game.

Due to the outpouring from the community over on CVG, a Jadestone representative has replied, laying the blame on Eidos.

"We - at Jadestone - cannot talk about the decision to close the game, due to contractual obligations. We will not answer or comment any such questions," responded the rep. "The game, the brand, the internet domain and the subscriptions are all owned by Eidos and the decision to cease the service is entirely theirs to make. The decision was made unilaterally by them, and we are not at liberty to comment on any reasoning.

"Finally, we only have one more thing to say: Thank you, and we're sorry."

Those who currently have a three-month subscriptions to the game will not be able to re-up and one-month subs will cease to work on March 30, while premium accounts get to play until it's shuttered.

Maybe it has something to do with the release of Championship Manager 2010.

We'll send Edios and mail and see what's up.
