Earth: Year 2066 pulled off Steam over claims developer misled customers

Earth: Year 2066 has been pulled off Steam following claims that the post-apocalyptic survival game is unfit for sale.

On April 17, developer Killing Day Studios released Earth: Year 2066 via Steam Early Access at £19.99. It has since received a negative reaction from the press and gamers alike due to it being labelled broken and unfinished.

After the game passed Steam Greenlight voting, disgruntled players who opted into the early access phase responded with a Reddit campaign geared towards receiving a refund. There are plenty of details and previews through the link, as well as plenty of scorn for the project.

Now, over on the Steam forum, Valve's Chris_D wrote, "On Steam, developers make their own decisions about promotion, features, pricing and publication. However, Steam does require honesty from developers in the marketing of their games.

"We have removed Earth: Year 2066 from Early Access on Steam. Customers who purchased the game will be able to get a refund on the store page until Monday May 19th."
