EA Summer Showcase: FIFA 13, ME3 for Wii U launch
EA's Summer Showcase today confirmed both FIFA 13 and Mass Effect 3 for Wii U launch later this year, as well as nailing Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel for a gamescom reveal.
FIFA 13 will be a Wii U launch title, EA said today at its Summer Showcase. The game's controls were shown, with EA saying the version will offer an experience not possible on the other consoles.
In addition, the Wii U version of Mass Effect 3 is hands-on at the US Showcase this week. It's to be a Wii U launch game, and includes online multiplayer.
Mass Effect 3: Leviathan was announced, as expected. The DLC will take place during the events of the main game, and will show back-story to the Reapers. It's out for 360, PC and PS3 this summer.
DICE used the showcase to air first gameplay from Battlefield 3 expansion Armored Kill. A new map, Armored Shield, and a new mode, Tank Superiority, are being shown at the event. The pack's out in September. It's to include 20 new maps, 20 new weapons and more.
Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel featured, but there was no new information over the game's earlier announcement. It's to be shown for the first time at gamescom later this month.
Medal of Honor: Warfighter's latest video was shown, with the main announcement being a collaboration with Linkin Park.
Other news: Need for Speed World is to get a Drag Race mode and Supercars, the publisher said. Expansion pack The Sims 3 Seasons was confirmed for release this autumn. It appears to feature a great deal of snow.
The publisher also said that it will release 40 "mobile, social and online free-to-play titles" this year.
FIFA 13 was shown on iOS. The version will feature online multiplayer. Orc Vengeance, Chillingo RPG, was shown for iOS. The Diablo-esque game, containing "hundreds of swords, hundreds of shields" is out now for $2.99.
PopCap showed PvZ Talking Zombitar. The app allows you to talk to you zombies with "hilarious results," apparently.
