EA Tiburon vets form PixelFoundry Games, announce BlackSpace for PC
PixelFoundry Games has been formed by EA Sports Tiburon vets Volga Aksoy and Jerry Phaneuf, and the first offering from the firm is the PC title BlackSpace slated for later this year.
According to the official blurb on the title, BlackSpace will have players journeying through space on massive rigs in hopes of finding mineral deposits to extract. In the vast frontiers of the galaxy, colonists "expect to prove that life can not only exist but flourish" and players will need to decide whether the deep space ventures "can yield returns to justify the expense and the risk."
You and your crew a crew will be planning, digging, trying to survive and defending yourselves.
That's about all that's known at the moment, but the first teaser trailer and environment screenshots for the game are posted below. Hopefully they will give you an idea of what to expect at this point, but it sounds like a strategy title to us.
A developer blog is also available for viewing on the official website, which the firm plans to update on a regular basis.
"We are early in development on BlackSpace," said Phaneuf in the press release. "In line with some of the forward thinking independent developers out there, we really want to get the community involved with the game, incrementally releasing features and enhancements, while getting reactions and suggestions."
No exact date just yet, just the aforementioned release for later this year.
