EA celebrates 30th anniversary of first games shipped
20 May 2013 marked the 30th anniversary of the first games EA ever shipped. In a San Francisco warehouse back in 1983, all of the then EA employees, including programmers and the marketing department, all came together to pack the first five EA games to be released and ship them off to stores selling Commodore 64 games.
These first five games released were Hard Hat Mack, Archon: The Light and the Dark, M.U.L.E, Worms? and Axis Assassin, courtesy of Origin.com.
Back then EA's marketing campaign promised to "make use of all the possibilities that computers can provide." This vision included making passive entertainment more active with one ad stating, “It is a communication medium: an interactive tool that can bring people’s thoughts and feeling closer together.” They also promised to help build the future of gaming and computers.
