E3 2018: everything you may have missed in The Division 2 gameplay trailer
Ubisoft showed a relatively long gameplay demo for The Division 2 at Microsoft's E3 press briefing overnight.
The footage featured a run of a mission from The Division 2, similar to the very first trailer we saw for the first game years ago.
The game's UI has been overhauled, and it's cleaner in some areas while offering more details in others. But the UI and setting weren't the only fresh things shown in the demo, we also got a look at a bunch of new items and mechanics, as well as a few returning ones.
Arekkz goes over all the blink-and-you'll-miss it details in the footage, and calls out some curious additions we're hoping Ubisoft will talk more about soon.
Drones appear to play a bigger role in The Division 2, and we get to see one of them in the footage attacking the boss. There also appears to be a power weapon-style fourth slot for players. The one shown in the footage is a grenade launcher, which sits above the usual primary, secondary, and sidearm options we know from the first game.
The loadout menu is now better laid-out, with more realistic icons and names. The weapon stats page is largely the same, though we do see a damage fall-off stat for all of them. Weapon mods and talents do make a return, as seen in the same screen.
One other big change in the footage is that players all have armour above their health, which ticks down when they get shot before damage hits their main health. Bosses, too, have the same thing, and breaking their armour seems to be represented in-game with pieces falling off.
The Social section of the menu also shows a clan tag, which would indicate a clan system is in the works for The Division 2. It's not clear how well this system will be integrated into the game, or if it's going to be anything more than just a group of players using the same tag.
The Division 2 is out March 15 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
