This story trailer for Dying Light shows a world filled with chaos

Straight out of The Game Awards 2014 last night is a story trailer for Dying Light, Techland's latest title full of scary looking zombies.

This is the first time the storyline has been detailed for the open-world, action-survival game and some of the characters you will meet seem a bit cranky. For obvious and understandable reasons.

Players will take on the role of Kyle Crane, an undercover operative who is tasked with infiltrating the quarantine zone where folks are barricaded from an epidemic which turns people into zombies.

The zone is filled with chaos, factions on the outs with one another and his "suspicious mission" has something to do with “the greater good”. That doesn't sound like a promising situation.

Techland looked to novels such as Albert Camus’s The Plague and Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness in order to "evoke similar emotions" and show how people can react to extreme situations.

Dying Light will be released in 2015 on January 27 in North America, January 28 in Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and January 30 in Europe and Oculus Rift support is being looked into for the game's launch.
