Dutch firm Gambitious to launch Kickstarter alternative at E3

Dutch firm Gambitious plans to launch an alternative to Kickstarter during E3 in June.

The "game-specific alternative," according to GI International, will provide investors with the opportunity to purchase share in the title which like the stick market, will provide dividends should the game be successful.

"The main difference between Gambitious and the currently popular Kickstarter is that the former does not rely on donations," said company CEO Korstiaan Zandvliet during a keynote at the Dutch Festival of Games.

"Instead, a developer decides what percentage of the required funding people can buy. Someone who invests money in a project, becomes a shareholder and is entitled to dividends."

The platform will launch in Europe first and then internationally once legal hurdles are overcome.
